Mobley started as a dream in North Carolina. The lead singer/songwriter, Anthony Watkins II moved to Austin and later joined with bassist, Tim Shelburne, and drummer, Sergio Trejos, to pursue a career in music. They are well on their way, with a busy start to the year. Club DeVille of Austin will host Mobley’s CD release party March 4th for the new album, Cold War Cold.

The band is a mix of electronica, indie rock ‘n’ roll, feel-good music with an old soulful sound all wrapped together. It’s the kind of music you want to ride with the windows down while you jam out on a sunny day. The new album features six new songs with the same diverse, original sound in each of them.
Mobley will also be kicking off the start of their tour on the East Coast as well. They plan to stop off for 20 shows on their journey. They are excited for the tour and as Anthony writes in the Mobley blog, “it is a rite of passage for all serious musicians: heading out on the open road with a van-full of gear and wallet full of lint”.

As you read the quote above and listen to their lyrics, Mobley’s music is true and honest poetry. They are truly talented musicians; it will be interesting to see what success 2012 will bring for this band that has already blown up so much on the Austin music scene. Live, Watkins’s voice is seamless and the music is infectious as Shelburne and Trejos rock out.

With a roadmap full of things to do and places to see, Mobley will sure to sound amazing at the end of it all when they come home to play for MR Fest 2012 in April. Make sure you head out for the weekend to come see these guys for FREE! See you in the front row!
